Oct 08, 2020 6 Recommendations for Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). The Center for Student Wellness is leading an annual campus-wide campaign in an effort to promote awareness, address prevention, and prompt response around DV. From their website, “Domestic violence affects millions, of every race, religion, culture and status. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted to rising domestic violence rates.” Their theme this year is One Thing You Can Do and will tag their events and other material on social media with the hashtag #1thingUcando.”
They will be hosting several events this month surrounding this event such as:
- October 14th, 4:30 PM – Healthy Relationship Workshop
- October 15th, 4:30 PM – Check on U-tah: Building Community through Bystander Intervention
- October 22nd, 11:30 AM – Harm Reduction Student Leader Panel
- October 29th, 11:30 AM – Victim-Survivor Advocacy Resources Panel
Register for those events here.
