Sep 01, 2021 Banned Books Week 2021
In 2020, 273 books we challenged or banned in U.S. public schools and libraries. Ranging from children’s picture books, to classic American novels, many of these books include profanity, sexual references, religious viewpoints, violence or LGBTQ+ content. Banned Books Week reminds us that while not every book is intended for every reader, each of us has the right to decide for ourselves what to read, listen to or view. This year, the Marriott Library will celebrate Banned Books Week September 27th – October 1st in recognition of the freedom to read!
Quest through the library in search of challenged books hidden throughout the floors in a Scavenger Hunt beginning Monday, September 27. To win a FREE BOOK:
- Find a fake book with a message inside somewhere in the Library – the book will be made of cardstock or Styrofoam
- Bring the fake book to the Administration Suite on Level 5
- Claim your prize!
