New additions to the Digital Library from October-December 2025

We’ve added over 1300 new items to the Digital Library over the past three months, below are some highlights.

Photos

Jacqueline Nokes – (finding aid) 459 photos added. The Jacqueline Nokes photograph collection contains materials related to her career at KSL-TV in the 1960s-1980s. Also included are travel photos and materials related to her work with people with disabilities.

Audio Visual

Mike Masaoka Oral Histories (finding aid) – 7 tapes added. The Mike M. Masaoka audio-visual collection consists of video and audio materials related to Mr. Masaoka and the Japanese American Citizens League, both in English and Japanese.

University of Utah Football Videos Collection (finding aid) – Additional films added. The University of Utah Football video collection (1948-1999) contains footage of University of Utah football games, most of which are silent coach’s films of games divided into separate reels for offense, defense and kicking.

KUTV Extra (finding aid) – Additional films added. KUTV EXTRA was a news magazine type show that aired from 1977 to 1984 and had unique and diverse segments. EXTRA fostered a legacy of programming that provides a historical snapshot of art and culture during a time of marked social change and technological development in Utah and throughout the nation.

KUTV News Collection – Campus Access (finding aid) – Additional films added. The KUTV News Collection is housed in the Multimedia Division of Special Collections and includes thousands of film reels and videotapes with airchecks, edited segments, and series from Utah’s Channel 2 ranging from the 1960s to the early 2000s.

Utah Salt Flats Racing Association Videos (finding aid) – 82 films added to restricted collection, Reading Room access available. The Utah Salt Flats Racing Association video collection (1935-2002, bulk 1989-2002) contains video recordings created and collected by the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association (USFRA), an amateur land speed racing association operating on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Wendover, Utah. The videos include footage of events hosted or attended by the USFRA, including Bonneville Speed Week, World of Speed, and the Land Speed Opener, as well as other videos relating to the subject of land speed racing.

Manuscripts

 

Frank E. Moss Papers (finding aid) – The Frank E. Moss papers (1931-1992) contain congressional papers of Senator Frank E. Moss, 1959-76, covering the 86th-93rd Congress, and personal files, 1935-76. Besides the congressional files the papers include biographical information, photographs, plaques, certificates, honors, etc. representative of his eighteen years as U.S. Senator. 645 additional items added.

George James Peirce papers (finding aid) – 4 reports added. The George James Peirce papers (1914-1915) consist of reports of field studies on vegetation damage from smelter smoke in the Tooele and Salt Lake valleys of Utah in 1914 and 1915. George James Peirce was a botanist.

Journal of Benjamin Franklin Cummings : Johnson’s army campaign  (finding aid) – Typed 1933 transcript by B. F. Cummings of the journal of his grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Cummings. The journal records the period 1857-1862 and discusses mainly Cummings’ military experiences and his dealings with American Indians as a missionary in Idaho.

Rare Books

Additional volumes added to the collection and Middle East Manuscripts collection.

Digital Library Services Faculty Projects

Utah Religious Architecture Project – New photos added. The Utah Religious Architecture Photograph Collection displays the history and variety of religious communities in Utah through images of existing and historical houses of worship.
