Genifer Snipes

Head of Teaching, Research and Outreach

Genifer Snipes holds a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign, a Master’s in Integrated Marketing Communication from West Virginia University, and a B.A. in History from Centre College. Most recently, she served as Head of Social Science Liaisons and Business & Entrepreneurship Librarian at the University of Oregon.

Prior to Oregon, Genifer was the inaugural Business and Economics Librarian at West Virginia University. She is active in professional service, currently chairing the BRASS Program Planning Committee and serving as BRASS LibGuides Coordinator.

Her current research explores how mid-career librarians perceive career progression, and she is writing about approaches to onboarding newly hired librarians. Her broader interests include project management, instructional design, and organizational change.Genifer is excited to support the growth of the Teaching, Research, and Outreach team and to strengthen the library’s role in information literacy, research and student success across the University of Utah.

Outside of work, she enjoys visiting zoos and aquariums, knitting, watching history documentaries and taking her two tiny dogs, Punk and Entei, on road trips.

Sara Runyan

Audiovisual Services Supervisor

Sara Runyan joins the Marriott Library as the Audiovisual Services Supervisor. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Digital Audio from Utah Valley University and Master of Entertainment Arts and Engineering from the University of Utah.

Her professional background includes audiovisual work in hotels, music venues, and performing arts theaters, as well as a sound design internship contributing to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.

Sara is excited to bring her extensive experience in live events and entertainment to the library and looks forward to making impactful enhancements to its audiovisual services.

Outside of work, Sara enjoys watching movies, reading, camping, and working on side projects involving sound design.
