There are several new faces at the Marriott Library! These friendly and knowledgeable individuals are here to assist students, staff and faculty with all things required for all encompassing academic success. Feel free to reach out to them at any time; they are here for U!

Genifer Snipes
Head of Teaching, Research and Outreach

Genifer Snipes holds a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign, a Master’s in Integrated Marketing Communication from West Virginia University, and a B.A. in History from Centre College. Most recently, she served as Head of Social Science Liaisons and Business & Entrepreneurship Librarian at the University of Oregon.
Prior to Oregon, Genifer was the inaugural Business and Economics Librarian at West Virginia University. She is active in professional service, currently chairing the BRASS Program Planning Committee and serving as BRASS LibGuides Coordinator.
Her current research explores how mid-career librarians perceive career progression, and she is writing about approaches to onboarding newly hired librarians. Her broader interests include project management, instructional design, and organizational change.Genifer is excited to support the growth of the Teaching, Research, and Outreach team and to strengthen the library’s role in information literacy, research and student success across the University of Utah.
Outside of work, she enjoys visiting zoos and aquariums, knitting, watching history documentaries and taking her two tiny dogs, Punk and Entei, on road trips.

Sara Runyan
Audiovisual Services Supervisor

Sara Runyan joins the Marriott Library as the Audiovisual Services Supervisor. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Digital Audio from Utah Valley University and Master of Entertainment Arts and Engineering from the University of Utah.
Her professional background includes audiovisual work in hotels, music venues, and performing arts theaters, as well as a sound design internship contributing to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3.
Sara is excited to bring her extensive experience in live events and entertainment to the library and looks forward to making impactful enhancements to its audiovisual services.
Outside of work, Sara enjoys watching movies, reading, camping, and working on side projects involving sound design.

Charlie Jarvis
Collection Services Supervisor

Charlie is joining the library as the Collection Services Supervisor. They are thrilled to be returning to the library after having worked as a student employee at the Knowledge Commons while earning a degree in French and Communication.
Charlie loves caring for plants, swimming, playing guitar, experimenting with coffee, and starting new books before finishing ones they’re already in the middle of.

Sam Nunn
Science & Engineering Librarian

Sam Nunn is joining the Marriott Library as the Science and Engineering Librarian. She will serve as the librarian liaison to the College of Science, providing STEM teaching, research, outreach, and collection development support for students, faculty, and staff, as well as supporting general education programs.
Sam Nunn holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Utah, as well as a Master of Library Science from Emporia State University.
Prior to joining the Marriott Library, Sam spent nearly a decade at the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library at the University of Utah, where she served in various roles. Most recently, she served as the Program Manager for the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Training Office. While at the NNLM Training Office, one of her most notable accomplishments was leading the NNLM Consumer Health for Library Students Program, which has grown significantly under her guidance.
In her free time, she enjoys playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, watching anime and collecting Funko Pops.

Brooke Christenson
Science & Engineering Librarian

Brooke joins the Marriott Library as a Science and Engineering Librarian. She earned her BA in biology with a minor in philosophy from Drake University. She got her MSLIS at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she was also a graduate assistant at Grainger Engineering Library.
Brooke’s interests include science communication, accessible design, and making information literacy more fun.
Outside of work, she can be found knitting sweaters, reading science fiction books and baking sweets.

Diego Perez
Desktop Support Engineer

Diego joins the Marriott Library as a Desktop Support Engineer. He is a new graduate from the U with a B.S. in Computer Science. During his time at the U, Diego interned as a Student IT Support Technician, where he supported areas including the Department of Public Safety, the Office of the President, the Utah Board of Education, and various other departments across the university. After graduating, he joined the library’s Client Platform Services team as an IT Support Specialist, providing support for both Mac and PC users.
Diego has already met many staff members and is excited to meet even more. He chose to work at the library because of his love for libraries. An avid library patron and lifelong reader, he believes in the power of accessible knowledge, physical media, third places and community.
Outside of work, he enjoys playing video games, reading, playing the trumpet, coding and spending time with his Miniature Schnauzers, Oso and Chico.

Grace Ujifusa
Acquisitions Assistant

Grace Ujifusa joins the Marriott Library as a full-time Acquisitions Assistant after working as a student in the Acquisitions Department. In May, she earned a dual BA in both Art History and English from the University of Utah. Go Utes!
Grace is passionate about all things literature and education and is excited to bring her skills and continue working with her amazing team in Acquisitions.
Outside of work, Grace loves perusing bookstores, cooking, playing great music, exploring Salt Lake as a native Portlander and being an aunt to her two amazing nieces: Paisley Jean and Eleanor Grace!
