ArcGIS Training Available on Demand

By Justin Sorensen

Are you interested in GIS technology and the possibilities it presents for your projects and research? Are you new to the GIS field and unsure where to go to begin acquiring these skills?

ESRI, the creators of the ArcGIS desktop and online software platforms, have released many training courses, tutorials, and short videos on a variety of geospatial topics (many of which are free to the public). From the basics of GIS software to complex geospatial analysis functions, these online trainings are available to help you get started wherever and whenever you are ready. Check out some of the free online course offerings available in their training catalog: https://www.esri.com/training/catalog/search/

Don’t forget, the Marriott Library also provides collaborative GIS project assistance to students, staff, and faculty. In addition to one-on-one appointment requests, we offer weekly Drop-In GIS Sessions, which are a great opportunity to discuss geospatial projects you are developing while receiving expert collaborative assistance. Additionally, our GIS / Data Visualization area of ProtoSpace (located in suite 2751) provides visitors with a growing array of equipment and software designed to further enhance your project and research development.

To learn more about the GIS services and equipment available at the Marriott Library, please visit the GIS Services website: www.lib.utah.edu/services/geospatial

Until next time…Happy Mapping!
