Oct 20, 2016 Assistant Librarian Selected for 2017 American Library Association Emerging Leaders
Congratulations to Lorelei Rutledge! She has been selected as an American Library Association Emerging Leaders for the Class of 2017.
“The American Library Association (ALA) Emerging Leaders (EL) program is a leadership development program which enables newer library workers from across the country to participate in problem-solving work groups, network with peers, gain an inside look into ALA structure, and have an opportunity to serve the profession in a leadership capacity. It puts participants on the fast track to ALA committee volunteerism as well as other professional library-related organizations.” – (Source: ALA Emerging Leaders)
Within the Marriott Library, Lorelei has taken on a variety of leadership roles including being the coordinator for the library’s Diversity Residency, providing outreach to underserved and under-represented communities at The University of Utah, and for leading training and supporting our “Ask the Library” service.
On asking how she felt about this honor, Lorelei replied, “I am really looking forward to the opportunity to connect with other ALA Emerging Leaders and to do service at a national level.” Lorelei is one of only 50 participants selected nationally and will begin this coming year.
Congratulations, Lorelei!
