DONOR FUNDS HELP CREATE NEW LIBRARY MUSIC SPACE

As the fall semester begins, the J. Willard Marriott Library continues to find new ways to enhance the campus experience for students. The Marriott Library is excited to introduce a new space for musical creativity in the Katherine W. Dumke Fine Arts & Architecture Library!

Thanks to generous donor contributions, this new music room provides an environment for students to explore and experiment with innovative technology.

Inside of the music room, students will find top-notch equipment including a premium Roland keyboard, a Mac computer with the latest music composition software and two sets of studio-quality headphones—one open-back and one closed-back—to cater to the student’s recording and mixing needs.

No need to stress about being the next Mozart! Luke Leither, an art & art history librarian, emphasizes that the space is designed for students of all skill levels. “Whether you’re a seasoned musician or just starting out, our music room offers the perfect environment to compose, practice and record your music.”

And if students are looking for inspiration, the Marriott Library offers thousands of scores to explore. Sheet music and piano scores are available both online and through the library’s catalog to help them practice their next musical project.

The room, like other specialized areas in the library, is available for reservation through the online scheduler. Simply locate “2500C Music Room” for the preferred date and time and book the slot.

Have questions about the music room or need help with the software or equipment? Please contact Luke Leither for assistance.
