Sep 04, 2025 Engineering-related Collections and News from the Marriott Library
The Marriott Library has expanded the engineering-related collections and resources this past year.
New collections, library databases and evidence-based acquisition (EBA) programs:
- American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) (new) Coverage includes all journals, conference publications, and meeting papers. Does not include books or standards.
- ASTM Compass (expanded) includes more industry standards, all ASTM standards, all EN (European Norm) standards, most ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards, and most IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards
- Dimensions (new) Purchased by the Office of the Vice President for Research. Requires free account. One of the data pipes for the new faculty profiles. Provides “linked research database, including publications, awarded grants, patents, clinical trials and policy documents—on a global scale.”
- EBA plans (updated) with Cambridge UP, DeGruyter, IOP, Project Muse, and Wiley
- IBISWorld (updated) includes US state and specialized industry reports
- Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Ebooks (new) Nearly 950 books from this UK-based society with over 150,000 members.
- Scite AI (new) “platform for discovering and evaluating scientific articles”
- Science of Synthesis (updated) Great resource for synthetic organic chemistry & medicinal chemistry
- Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) aka SAE Mobilus (new) Coverage includes Technical Papers (1998-current), Journals (2008-current), Standards (current), and four magazines
- Taylor & Francis journals (~2700 journals) and books (2019-2024) (expanded) Includes imprints such as Routledge and CRC Press. We can individually order 2025 books (electronic or print).
- Web of Science (expanded coverage & new resources added) Search core or all databases. Now includes Biosis, Current Contents, Derwent Innovations Index, Zoological Record, and more.
Teaching-related:
- The library’s reserve team are here for you. Please continue to use Canvas’ Course Materials for your teaching materials.
- Ebook platforms:
- Access Engineering (Includes Schaum’s Outline of … Calculus, Chemistry, Engineering Mechanics, Physics, etc., Perry’s Chemical Engineers’ Handbook, Mark’s Standard Handbook Mechanical Engineers, Water and Wastewater Engineering: Design Principles and Practice
- O’Reilly Includes books like Learning Python, online courses on Advanced Excel, etc.
- Open Education Resources (OER) at the University of Utah
- If you have research-related assignments (literature review, patent searching, etc.), we can guest lecture, create tailored Canvas content, and/or co-develop assignments.
