Hotspots Now Available for Checkout During Trial Period

Thotspothat’s right: the library has teamed up with University Information Technology and T-Mobile to allow students to checkout mobile hotspot devices.

These hotspots are available at the Marriott Library for a free three-day checkout to current University of Utah students, staff, and faculty. Patrons can use a hotspot to connect laptops, tablets, and smartphones to the internet from any location with T-Mobile service – both on and off campus.

This service is being offered as part of a three-month pilot program sponsored by University Information Technology (UIT) and the Marriott Library. The pilot is scheduled to end at the close of spring semester 2016.

If you’d like to borrow a hotspot, they’re available at the Student Computing Services desk on Level 2 of the Marriott Library. Twenty-five of the devices are available for checkout on a first-come, first-served basis during regular library hours. For more information, call the Knowledge Commons Desk at 801-581-6273.

I’d like to rent a hot spot but it sounds like it’s first come first serve. Am I able to reserve one until I get down there next week?

This is a fantastic idea but I won’t use it because of the 3 day time period. I don’t get up to campus much and would love to be able to check it out for a month at a time.
