The Marriott Library is excited to announce a significant expansion of its collections with new learning resources, data tools and scholarly materials. 

The new resources reflect the Library’s ongoing commitment to student success by providing authoritative, reliable materials that support classroom instruction, independent learning and research at every level, from first-year coursework to graduate scholarship. 

Sarah Shreeves, Alice Sheets Marriott Dean of Libraries commented, “We have been working on bolstering our collections to support our students and researchers for some time. With an infusion of funds from the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Vice President for Research, we have been able to expand our collections and provide even better access to reliable and trusted resources.”  

While the new collections provide broad support for students across all disciplines, purchasing decisions targeted specific programs showing growth, such as Business, Psychology, Biology and Nursing, amongst others.

Student Learning and Classroom Support   

These materials provide students and instructors with practical learning materials, instructional videos, research guidance and reference tools that can be incorporated directly into courses or used for independent study.

Data and Research Skills

These databases help students and researchers locate, analyze and interpret data for coursework, capstone and thesis projects and scholarly research; they strengthen quantitative reasoning, data literacy and analytical skills that are valuable across academic disciplines and professional careers.

Scholarly Collections

The Library has also expanded its permanent scholarly collections through major ebook packages and primary source collections from leading academic publishers. These long-term investments strengthen the University’s research collections and will support scholarship for years to come. 

“Many of the new resources directly support the university’s emphasis on developing durable skills that students will carry into graduate education and their careers,” explains Mary Aagard, Head of Collections and Resource Description. “Students can strengthen research methods, learn discipline-specific laboratory techniques, develop data literacy, improve academic writing and explore specialized subject areas through resources that integrate easily into Canvas.”

    Congratulations! Nice to see the growth and progress of the Marriott Library, where I hosted tours in 1968 with Mortar Board when the library first opened on campus.
