Sep 30, 2020 JFK at Flaming Gorge
President John F. Kennedy orders the start of the generators at Flaming Gorge Dam during a visit to Salt Lake City, Utah. Kennedy is accompanied by Utah Senator Frank Moss.
This footage comes from the Bureau of Reclamation film “Flaming Gorge” (A0548), which is held by the Moving Image & Sound Archive in the Marriott Library’s Special Collections Division. While many Special Collections resources like this digital video can be provided remotely, appointments to view collections in person are also available.
In order to schedule a time and allow Special Collections staff to prepare materials for use, appointments should be requested a minimum of 48 hours before a researcher intends to visit. Appointments are available from Monday-Thursday in two-hour blocks, beginning at 10 am, noon, and 2 pm.
For more information or to request an appointment to visit Special Collections, please visit the Special Collections Website and fill out our webform.
Note: The Special Collections Reading Room will be closed during the U’s “circuit breaker” timeframe of September 27 – October 12.
