Marriott Library Visits Alumni in Europe

In May 2019, the Marriott Library gathered with dozens of alumni and friends at two events hosted in Europe. The library hosted the first gathering at King’s College in London on May 21st and the second on May 23rd at a restaurant in Oslo, Norway.

Library staff member and technologist, T.J. Ferrill shared insights into campus collaborations utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), machine learning, 3D printing, and other technologies, and discussed how these resources are shaping scholarship and research in higher education. Before and after the presentation, guests were able to experience VR, most for the first time.

Attendees represented the colleges of Architecture + Planning, Business, Engineering, Health, Humanities, Science, and Social and Behavioral Science, among others. In Norway, most of the attendees were former student athletes from the ski team and were able to reminisce about their experiences, and celebrate the new Spence Eccles Ski Team Building and this year’s NCAA championship.

Both events provided great opportunities for the Marriott Library to connect with friends and alumni around the world and we look forward to future events overseas.
