New Digital Exhibits on Marriner S. Eccles and Golden Spike Celebrations

Every semester, Digital Library Services strives to add new digital exhibits highlighting items in our digital library and in Marriott Library Special Collections. Recently, we’ve added two new digital exhibits in advance of the fall semester.

The Golden Spike Celebrations exhibit focuses on events commemorating the completion of the First Transcontinental Railroad, with information on celebrations from the 1940s, 1969, and 2019. This exhibit also features photos from a new digital collection that documents contemporary activities around Golden Spike celebrations. Rachel Jane Wittmann, Digital Curation Librarian, developed the exhibit and digital collection.

The Marriner S. Eccles exhibit was prepared by James Muir-Jones, Digital Exhibits Assistant. It showcases photographs and manuscript material donated to Marriott Library special collections covering Eccles’ highly influential career in banking and economics, as well as philanthropic work, and a guide to primary source materials available for research.
