Six Things to Know about the New Answer U Service

Ask anything. Navigate everything. It’s a phrase that encapsulates the new Answer U service. But what exactly is it? Here are a few questions and answers to clarify what to expect.

A group of five people wearing matching "Answer U" shirts stand smiling at a reception desk in a modern office lobby, conveying a welcoming tone.
Young woman with headphones and glasses, seated at a marble table with a laptop and notebook, looks thoughtfully to the side in a modern setting.
A spacious library with students studying at tables, focusing on laptops. Bookshelves line the left wall, creating a quiet, studious atmosphere.
A sunny campus scene with a modern glass building, green lawns, and a few people walking on a path. Trees frame the image, creating a serene atmosphere.

What is Answer U?

Answer U is the first step to finding the information that students need to succeed at the U. Navigating a university can be overwhelming for a lot of students. Instead of doing all the work yourself, talk to an Answer U staff member to answer your questions and discover campus resources. You can talk to an Answer U staffer in person at the Marriott Library, over email and on the phone.

Why Was Answer U Started?

The goal of Answer U is to have a coordinated service point to guide students to the right resources regardless of the type of question they might have. Answer U was created as part of the Student Experience Project (SEP).

Is Answer U Replacing Any Services?

No, everything students expect from Library Services remains available. Answer U is not intended to replace any existing library services; rather, it serves as an additional point of support to help students connect with the resources they need.

Likewise, Answer U won’t replace existing campus services. Resources such as Academic Advising, Career Coaching, Financial Aid & Scholarships, the Wellness Center and many others continue to provide the same essential services they always have. Answer U simply helps students navigate and access these valuable resources more easily and efficiently.

Where can students access Answer U?

Students can connect with Answer U staff in person at any of the library service desks, via chat, email and phone. For cases involving a more in-depth conversation, Answer U generalists will meet with the student in a consultation space.

What are some examples of questions from students?

“How do I drop a class?”

“How do I meet with my advisor?”

“How do I get a hold on my registration removed?”

“What happens if my financial situation changes mid-semester?

“How do I change my major?”

Is Answer U only available at the library?

The Answer U service is now available at any of the library service desks in-person and virtually; however, additional locations – such as the Union, Student Life and Residence Halls – will be coming down the road.
