Stress Busters Reaches New Heights Thanks to ASUU Class Gift

Excitement was in the air when the new schedule was announced for this year’s Stress Buster Week at the library, a week of nutritious food and resources to support students as they prepare for final exams.

An expanded food giveaway schedule was made possible because the Associated Students of the University of Utah (ASUU), selected the Marriott Library to receive the 2026 class gift. The ASUU Class Gift provided additional food giveaways, such as free burritos, and increased the amount of pizza distributed through Pizza with the Provost. Students also enjoyed Jimmy John’s sandwiches.

“As Vice President of Student Relations, I worked with our team to ensure this initiative reflected what students truly need. After months of listening and surveying, one concern stood out: access to food during high-stress times, especially finals. We chose to support Stress Buster Week because it aligned with our goal of making an immediate impact,” shared Auzja Morse. “As a senior class gift, it was important that it benefit students right now. With strong support from our legislative body and partnership with the library, we were able to deliver meaningful support that students asked for and deserve.”

Stress Buster Week in total reached nearly 4,000 students over the course of four days, an increase of roughly 19%.

“Our main goal with Stress Buster Week is to do what we can to help students,” explained marketing & PR supervisor Jordan Hanzon. “Whether it’s hosting therapy dogs or making sure students have food to eat to keep them going, it’s all in the name of student success.”

Sarah Shreeves, Alice Sheets Marriott Dean of Libraries, commented, “A huge shout-out of appreciation to ASUU for contributing the Class Gift to the library. The smiles and nods of appreciation from students illustrated how valuable the extra food was to them.”

Thank you to these campus partners who participated by providing resources.

Two people near the center face the camera, each holding up one hand with the thumb and index finger extended in the shape of a “U.” One person wears a light, ruffled short-sleeve top with a denim skirt, and the other wears a blue long-sleeve button-down shirt. Behind them, several others stand in line or look on, some holding plates or napkins. The table displays branded sandwich boxes, napkins, and a small basket, and the background shows an open, well-lit interior with artwork and people moving through the space.
