May 10, 2024 University of Utah Press Unveils Revamped Website with Enhanced Features
The University of Utah Press proudly announces the launch of its redesigned website, showcasing a myriad of enhancements aimed at providing a seamless user experience and greater accessibility to its extensive catalog of scholarly publications.
Key individuals involved in the project include Hannah New, Marketing Manager, and Jessica Booth, Editorial, Design, and Production Manager from the University of Utah Press, along with Amanda Crittenden, Assistant Head of User Experience and Web Development, Leah Donaldson, Web Application Developer, Lung-Hao (Howard) Tung, User Experience Assistant, and Brian McBride, Head of Digital Infrastructure Development from the Marriott Library.
“We feel fortunate to have the website launched during our 75th year of scholarly publishing. What a great way to celebrate our Press!,” declared Hannah New. “We are thankful to the Marriott Library web development team.”
The revamped website boasts a multitude of new features and improvements, including:
- Consolidation into a single Content Management System (CMS), streamlining the publishing process.
- Enhanced User Interface for improved navigation and readability.
- Accessibility Enhancements to ensure inclusivity for all users.
- Custom WordPress theme and plugin development tailored to the needs of the press.
- Advanced Filtering and Search functions for new avenues of content discovery.
- Enhanced book metadata importing of books available for purchase through the Chicago Distribution Center.
- Dynamic webpages for Authors, Subjects, Series, Catalogs, and Books.
- Ability to include supplemental resources on book pages, enriching the reader experience.
- Integration of other vendor buying options and Audiobook purchasing options.
- Tagging and display of Book Awards for recognition of scholarly achievements.
- Addition of Blog and Events functionality to keep readers informed and engaged.
- Seamless form integration with ConstantContact for enhanced communication.
- Improved SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to increase visibility and reach.
