Wallace Stegner Papers – Special Collections

The Special Collections Department of the J. Willard Marriott Library houses thousands of collections and provides access to wonderful primary sources for on-site use by students, researchers, citizens of the local community, and the world. One such collection is that of Wallace Earle Stegner.  Wallace Stegner (1909-1993), was not only a writer of novels, short stories, essays, and biographies, but was in addition a historian, a teacher, a speaker, respected advocate for the environment, and winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1972 for his book Angle of Repose.  He taught at the University of Utah, the University of Wisconsin, and Harvard University before heading to Stanford University, where he founded the Creative Writing Program in 1946.  His collection contains personal and professional correspondence, manuscript drafts, research material, memorabilia, scrapbooks, books containing letters of condolence compiled by his wife Mary Stegner, and photographs.
