Oct 28, 2024 A Myriad of Activities for Campus and Community
Dean’s Message, November 2024
Fall semester is always a busy and exciting time of year on campus. The schedule is especially full this fall, with several major events and an ever-increasing number of students here in the Marriott.
The Ski Affair was held on October 23 at the Alumni House. Between the ticket sales and opportunity drawing, the event raised more than $72,000 for the Ski and Snow Sports Archives, considered the largest of its type in the world.
We also celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Marriott Library designation as the Patent and Trademark Resource Center for Utah. The University of Utah Press celebrated its 75th anniversary. And we heard from a leading scholar, Emily Knox, on the reasons why book banning is on the rise.
Looking ahead, the library will be a polling place on November 5. Students, faculty, staff – actually any resident of Salt Lake County – can cast their vote or drop off their completed ballots at the library.
And our fall book sale is happening now through November 8!
As always, the library is open to all. If you haven’t visited recently, come see us!
Sincerely,
Sarah L. Shreeves
