    Avons have a great reputation, especially the gray English Avons, well-earned from their proprietary French Hypalon material… but look hard at the low corners at the end of the straight waterline… their bucket boats (solid floor design) took a lot of water over those corners on an angular hit and then the crew was set to bailing, even if it was a crew of one! Later Self-Bailing designs improved on this by increasing the kick at the bow and stern and using the self/bailing floor to drain the water quickly.
