Need a headshot for your next acting gig? Maybe you just want to update your profile picture? Tony Sams, the Video Studio Specialist of the library’s Creativity and Innovation Services team, has started up a new weekly drop-in event called “Headshot Wednesdays”.
Every Wednesday, Sams will be in the Video Studio in the Faculty Center on Level 1 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM with his camera at the ready to take your photo for free. “Headshots are always needed and can cost upwards of 500 dollars,” explains Tony Sams. “These sessions are a way to expose users to our media studios and services, while providing them a valuable opportunity for free.”
The headshot photo session typically lasts around fifteen minutes and do not require an appointment beforehand. Afterwards, the digital full-size files will be emailed directly to the user for printing.
Additionally, Tony Sams has started up an additional weekly drop-in workshop every Tuesday in the ProtoSpace from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM for anyone to learn about virtual reality (VR). These sessions are meant for any level of experience with VR and use headsets such as the Valve Index and the Meta Quest 2. Sams hopes that these open labs will help increase understanding of VR services and spaces and how it is being used for both education and entertainment.

The photos can be used for passports. The photos are shot against a white background. However, you will need to crop them per the passport requirements. (USA and Canada have a different crop requirement).
