7 Summer Films to Watch Through the Library

Summer is here! Time to kick back and watch some films courtesy of the Marriott Library. Joni Clayton has gone through the databases and collections and found these 7 films that are free to watch for students, staff, and faculty of the University of Utah. So queue one of these up and enjoy the show.

Film recommendations:

Endless Summer (Director’s Special Edition) (1965)

The ultimate surfing adventure crossing the globe in search of the perfect wave. From the uncharted waters of West Africa, to shark-filled seas of Australia to the tropical paradise of Tahiti and beyond, these California surfers live their dream.

God Help the Girl (2014)

Eve is a young woman who is low on self-esteem but high on fantasy, especially when it comes to music.  Over the course of one Glasgow summer, she meets two similarly rootless souls and together they decide there’s only one thing to do: form a pop group.

Mamma Mia! (2008)

Twenty-year-old Sophie is preparing to marry at her mother’s hotel on a Greek island.  She has everything but a father.  By reading her mother’s diary, she discovers that she has three possible fathers that she secretly invites to the wedding.  But, not all goes according to plan.

Moonrise Kingdom (2012)

Set on an island of the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, this tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness.  As various authorities try to hunt them down, the peaceful island community is turned upside down.

Spider-Man; Spider-Man 2; Spider-Man 3 (2002, 2004, 2007)

Follow Peter Parker in these three adventures as he swings into action fighting super-villains Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman and Venom and wins the heart of Mary Jane.

Wine of Summer (2016)

In the vein of Under the Tuscan Sun, James quits his jobs and follows his dream.  A great play inspires him to go on a journey, which leads him to Spain.  There he meets Veronica as well as the playwright who changed his life.
